A: TC logiQ is a full service background that utilizes cutting edge technology to create customized solutions for its clients. We started June 2004. Our clients range from government agencies, for-profit, not-for-profit, national governing bodies for the US Olympic Committee to school districts.

TC logiQ’s vision has changed with regards to our long-term aspirations. We are no longer seeking to take our company public, as was part of the original business plan written in 2002-2003. We are now aspiring to franchise the organization which has changed the way the background screening industry now conducts screenings. Franchising will enable TC logiQ to grow more rapidly, thus engulfing the $3.2 billion industry in chunks and avoiding tax liabilities of growing with employees. Additionally, franchising will allow qualified individuals to piggyback off of our name and reputation which is well-recognized industrywide.

Q: Describe why you chose Colorado Springs as the city to launch your business in…and what’s your experience been like here in the Springs as an entrepreneur?

I did not necessarily choose Colorado Springs as the city to launch my business. I moved to Colorado Springs in 1995 to train for the 1996 Olympics and have been here ever since. So I guess in a way you can say Colorado Springs chose me. After finally making the 2008 Olympic team, I’ve never had any plans to leave and take my family and take our business anywhere else. To be an Olympian and business owner in the Springs is a great experience. Colorado Springs loves its Olympians and Olympic hopefuls like no other city in the world!

Overall the  experience has been positive as a entrepreneur in Colorado Springs. TC logiQ’s Client portfolio come from all over the United States. Being a primarily a Internet based business gives us the flexibility to build a customer base with anyone in the world.

Q: What do you like most about living and working in Colorado Springs?

A: I am originally a Chicago native and coming from a big-city you immediately notice the people here are nicer, you get more smiles, more sunny days, less overcast days and in some ways more diversity.

Q: Do most of your clients know you are a 2008 Olympian?

A: Most of our clients know that I am a 2008 Olympian.  Being an Olympian also helps to lend to creditability.  Just by going to our website you will immediately notice from the introduction of the CEO.

Q: Do you belong to any local business organizations? For example, the Chamber, BBB, etc. What value have you received if you do participate, and if you don’t, what other methods do you use to promote and grow your business? What’s been most helpful?

A:  Center for Nonprofit Excellence and ACFE- Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. The value to participate in local organizations is the visibility to your own community. We also advertise via SEO (search engine optimization) to drive traffic to our site and HTML mass emailing.
