The nation’s largest bathtub, tile and countertop surface restoration franchisor, Miracle Method leaped over nearly 100 other franchise opportunities from its 2007 Franchise 500 ranking of 297.

SBA’s Ruling on Women Contractors

Posted by SpringsBusiness.com On January - 8 - 2008

This announcement is from local business owner Kaye Mitchell of Certify to Success:

sba241 SBA’s Ruling on Women Contractors I am calling every woman I know to arms. All of the local papers (including the Colorado Springs Business Journal!) turned down an opportunity to do a story regarding SBA’s December 26, 2007 Proposed Ruling on Women Contractors. Below is an email forwarded to me showing after 3 weeks of discussion what the Colorado Springs Business Journal finally provided on their Daily Email blurbs. Thankfully it was forwarded to me because I am only subscribed to the weekly version of the paper (and their editor refused to do the story!).

Consequently, if you are not a member of an organization telling you about this ruling and the short time frame we women have to comment our opinion to the SBA before they make a final ruling, you may not know what is going on. This issue is critical since many businesses and government agencies look to the SBA for guidance. If we do not act, this ruling could set us back several years. Apparently the SBA feels women have finally reached a level playing field. I don’t know about you, but this is NOT my experience.

Since our papers think so little of this issue, here are some business journals that will tell you the story or you can go to Women In Public Policy’s website for more information on how you can act now. Note: WIPP is a bipartisan organization which educates and advocates on behalf of women and minorities in business.

We only have until February 25, 2008 to let SBA know how we feel about this proposed ruling. Please take a moment to read and act. Thank you!
